The Club House

The Saga of the Pavilion continues. It now looks as though the council is planning to knock down the existing pavilion and replace it with a building that is more focussed on the needs of the footballers. The plan was for it to have 4 changing rooms for teams and one for the officials. We have been offered a room in this building but it currently looks as though we would be better off building our own pavilion in the space between the current building and the courts. We are progressing down this line of enquiry to find out how much this would cost, would we need toilets etc… You can of course be assured that any decision requiring a decision on expenditure will go to an EGM.

Summer Tournament – New Format

Last year we set the finals day in September so everyone had plenty of time to get their games played. The result was everyone left it to the last minute. This year there will be no excuses. All entries need to be signed up on the board in the club house or emailed to dpower@maple5.com by March 31^st. We will most the matches on the weekend of the 16^th/17^th of April. You will then all have 2 months to play your games before Finals Day on the 18^th of June.

Change of Treasurer

It is with regret that I announce the resignation of Peter Asquith from the role of Treasurer of the club. Peter has been the lynch pin of the committee for the last 14 years and it is down to Peter’s responsible stewardship that we find ourselves as financially sound as we do.  Peter also took much of the burden of organising the Membership and Wimbledon tickets and both his and his wife, Audrey’s contribution will be missed.

Fortunately Julia Stanbrook has volunteered to take over and she will be working with Peter on the hand over and to get the 2011 subscriptions out on time.

Coaching

We are currently without a full time coach – if any knows of anyone qualified to give some adult coaching and work with the committee to increase the amount of coaching please contact Daniel Power.

Club Nights – Monday 11^th April

It has been a horrible weather this Winter for Tennis but spring is in the air and the evenings are getting longer.

Some hardy members have continued club night throughout the Winter Months Club but nights will start again formally on Monday the 11^th of April. It will be great to see you all up there. Please remember Club Nights are from 6:00PM Monday and Wednesday.
